1/12 European Championships: NOSRAM Took the Crown!
Current World Champion Andy Moore and NOSRAM took the crown of the 1/12th European Championships 2007! Andy Moore was fastest of the fast with his NOSRAM Matrix Evolution 2007 Edition and won this important European race for NOSRAM!
The European Championship took place in the city of Eskilstuna/Sweden. 95 top drivers from all over Europe attended this prestigious event and as usual on these international meetings, the track had a good and challenging layout with good traction. Friday was set for practice. Saturday 5 rounds of qualifying, 1 on Sunday with only the fastest one to count.
Top qualifier Andy Moore was the winner after the three leg A final. He won the first leg from the front and was hit with a stop-go penalty in leg two after his car moved six inches just before the buzzer – a jump start. From the back of the field Andy proceeded to cut through the field at an alarming rate, turning lap times that most could not believe…he would never last the eight minutes at that pace…surely!! When Andy hit the front with 45 seconds to go he backed off and cruised home comfortably, taking the leg win and the title of European Champion.
So Andy Moore adds the 1/12th Euros title to his 1/10th TC Euros and, of course, his World Champion title from 2006.
Andy Griffiths, the reigning British National Champion, pushed his NOSRAM powered car round to qualify in 3rd place – an excellent result and his best Euro’s qualifying ever. The finals were difficult for Andy as he was constantly under pressure. But he drove superbly to fight off many challenges, ultimately suffering from just a little bit of bad luck when it really mattered! His 4th place overall was well deserved and an excellent 1/12th season for him – well done!
