Team Serpent had a productive second day to the 2007 European Championship for 1:10 200mm with SDD team driver and local ace Oscar Cabezas posting the fastest lap time of the day just over 1/10 of a second shy of the track record.
Glorious weather once again greeted competitors on day two of the event with the track reaching the 50 degrees mark during the day.
While a number of leading drivers did not carry transponders for free practice everyone agreed that Cabezas was the pace setter posting his fastest time in the morning session when track conditions were at their coolest.
Michael Salven was very happy with the teams early pace and also with his own driving although he did admit that he needs to find more time in the afternoon sessions when track conditions are hotter.
Fellow German Mirko Morgenstern was also running well with his Mega powered 720. Austrian pairing Daniel Tomasckho and Gerhard Kandelhart have also have a trouble free opening to the event.
Mark Green was pleased with his car but the Englishman, twice a runner up in the Euros, was looking to get a better setting on his engines.
Free practice continues today (Wednesday) with the hot temperatures set to continue here in Madrid. With three days of testing completed Team Serpent will this evening host a Technical talk for all the 720 drivers to discuss and share set-up information as we go into Timed Practice tomorrow.
