It was a great result for Mirage at round 2 of the Rug Racer series, run by HRCC the Rug Racer series takes place at Woodson Park in Hertfordshire and round 2 saw an emphatic 1-2 in modified for Olly Jefferies and Ben Cosgrove.
Olly set the pace in qualifying with his Orion powered Hot Bodies Cyclone and led the field through all three rounds setting FTD five seconds ahead of national champion Chris Grainger. In Third was Ben Cosgrove for X-ray and making it three Mirage drivers in the top five was Elliot Harper with his Cyclone. Rounding out the top Mirage drivers saw Stew Noble make the A-final with yet another Cyclone.
Olly led the first final from start to finish and controlled the rac from the front leaving Ben to battle Chris Grainger for second. Ben got the better of Chris to take second behind Olly in leg one. A fifth place for Elliot kept his hopes of a top three finish alive with the second leg to come.
Leg two and Olly was under more pressure than he experienced in leg one, but he held on to take the clean sweep and take the overall victory. Another second for Ben was a great result and a solid performance for Nosram / X-Ray.
Third in second final saw Elliot promoted up to fourth in the final standings, but a DNF in the first leg spoilt Stew Noble’s chance of a good result.
Phil Chambers missed out on an A final place but performed well in the B final finishing third.
Olly’s next race see’s him at round two of Carpet Wars, he is enjoying a fine run of results on Carpet at the moment taking FTD at every meeting he has contested since moving inside for the winter. This includes an excellent performance at the HPI / Orion Classic last weekend Zillisheim in France.
Olly set FTD in front of the Euro’s FTD man Steve Weiss. Olly felt he got a lot from the meeting and was grateful of the opportunity to work closely with Oscar Jansen of Orion for the weekend.
