Don Valley hosted the 2007 Hot Bodies Juniors event, which provides a great opportunity for U13 and U16 drivers to compete. This is the only indoor championship specifically aimed at Juniors in the UK. Team Xray were put in force at the meeting and were represented by myself and teammate Ali Graham both running in the under 16 19t class. I was really looking forward to return to the Juniors event at Don Valley. I also ran the 007 due to not having the right kit to be able to run 6 cell with the 008.
After practise, I was fairly happy with how my car was and was looking forward to the start of the qualifiers. I left the car the same for the first and second second runs before making a slight change to the front roll centre for the third. This worked and I retained TQ. The fourth round of qualifying was always going to be the fastest with the grip coming up every race. I made a mistake at about the three minute mark. I then needed to push really hard to try to regain TQ and the Xray car coped very, very well. I took the fastest lap of the meeting with a 9.0 during this race showing the sheer pace of the Xray car. Fortunately I was just able to regain TQ in front of Xray teammate Ali Graham.
Ali made a small mistake on the first lap of the final which allowed me to open up a substantial lead and was able to cruise around the track, making sure that I finished the race. In the end, i finished half a lap up on Ali who took second place on the day. In winning the race, I took home the under 16 19t championship. The car performed faultlessly all day and I would like to thank Xray for providing me with such an amazing package to work with.
