Rug Racers Round 4

Carpet Domination once again for Mirage

For the second meeting in succession Mirage drivers dominated round four of the Rug Racers series.

Olly Jefferies continued his superb winter form taking another carpet victory at Round three of Rug Racers, Olly’s HB Cyclone led after round one of qualifying but it was Xray new boy Elliott Harper that took over at the top of the time sheets in round two. The final round of qualifying was a tense affair with both Elliott and Olly suffering incidents in the last run but at the end of qualifying it was Olly on pole with Elliott missing out by only a second.

Third on the Grid was Chris Kerswell with Ben Cosgrove fourth for Xray, Chris Grainger completed the top five with Xray’s Phil Chambers an excellent sixth.

Olly has been dominant in the series so far and the first leg of the final was no different, leading from the front. Elliott battled hard for second with Chris Kerswell, after a close fought race Elliot eventually got the better Chris and the final positions in leg showed a win for Olly with Elliot second.

The second leg of the A final was a lot closer with Elliott putting Olly under intense pressure by the half way mark, everyone anticipated a good fight for the lead and Elliot would have his work cut out to rattle an on form Olly. Elliot was able to close up what little gap remained and stuck himself to Olly’s bumper, but the HB Cyclone driver stayed cool and took the win and another haul of maximum championship points.
Special mention has to go to Phil Chambers who after some “bad luck” at previous rounds scored an excellent fourth for Xray.
