The Savage XL – Extra Large Size and Mega Power!

Check out the new macho addition to the Savage line-up! The Savage XL is the super-large, extra-tough and supremely powerful bigger brother to the Savage monster trucks. With a longer wheelbase, wider stance and huge 5.9cc (.36 cubic inch) engine, the Savage XL is ready to rock and roll right out of the box!

We were looking to expand the Savage range of monster trucks and had to consider what would capture the imagination and hearts of legions of HPI Savage fans. HPI designers settled on a larger, fun-oriented version of the Savage with massive great tyres, a giant chunky bodyshell and powered by the biggest engine ever offered in a production Savage monster truck. The end result is the Savage XL!

Revelation Raceway in Montclair, California was the sight of this year’s Kyosho Fall Classic, and a slew of top drivers were on hand to showcase their talents under cloudy So-Cal skies. One driver was determined not to let the gloomy weather get him down and utilized his ability to burn up the track to bring a half-hour of warmth to the frigid region. Kaulin Hall powered his way to the front of the Amateur Buggy class from the 5th spot on the grid and never looked back. When the 30 minute race was over he had put nearly a lap on the entire field with his HB Lightning2 Pro Evo to take a convincing win. Kaulin has been running HB 1/8th scale cars for the last 3 years and has enjoyed developing his skills with the Lightning series of buggies. All of the practice has paid off recently as Kaulin has finished in the A-main at nearly every event he’s attended culminating in this win last weekend at the Kyosho race. We’d also like to give special mention of his father Vance whom acts as Kaulin’s pit man and always has his car ready to dominate the competition. We here at HB would like to thank the Hall’s for their hard work and support and congratulate them on the win.

HB is proud to introduce the newest member of our race team; the 2004 Roar 2wd Off-road National Champion, Jesse Robbers. Jesse will be involved in research and development on all HB off-road chassis and will be doing some design work as well. Robbers brings with him over 10 years of racing experience and his resume is chalked full of impressive results from events all over the nation. We at HB feel privileged to have Jesse as part of the team and are excited to add yet another driver with a reputation for being as helpful as he is fast.

Jesse’s HB debut was a couple of weeks ago at the Midwest Electric Off-road Championships hosted by CRCRC. With many of the top names in attendance this race would prove an excellent first test for the latest HB Hot-shoe. Not one to disappoint Jesse showed us just what he was capable of in qualifying by taking the TQ spot in 2wd and the 2nd spot on the grid in the 4wd class with his HB D4. When the dust had settled after the mains Robbers had taken a respectable 4th place finish in 2wd and piloted his D4 to second place on the podium in his first outing with the car! HB would like to thank Jesse for his impressive efforts and we look forward to a great 2008 race season.

Welcome aboard Jesse!

Kyosho’s new dNaNo 1/43 mini racers

The dNaNo is an all new car from Kyosho that is unlike anything else in RC.

  •  1/43-scale so it can easily fit in the palm of your hand.
  •  Operated by a 2.4GHz radio system so there are no crystals to fuss with.
  •  Each car has a built-in lap counter and each car has its own unique ID number. After a race, you will be able to review your results for the race and also bring up information on the entire life of your car.
  •  Powered by a LiPo battery pack, which Kyosho told me is very safe and will not burn.
  •  Optional light set will be available.
  •  Ports on the chassis allow you to plug in an optional traction control unit to make the car easier to control when cornering at speed.
  •  The car can be plugged into a computer so driving profiles can be customized.
  •  Each car comes completely assembled and includes a chassis for display purposes that has the true to scale wheels and tires mounted on it.
  •  A starter set will include the 2.4GHz transmitter, LiPo battery pack and charger. (These items are not included with the car)
  •  Transmitter only requires 4AAA batteries.
  •  8 different bodies will be available, with new ones coming out each month there after.
  •  The bodies look absolutely amazing with exacting detail…to the point where I can see diecast fans buying the car just for display.
