Serpent has released this set of 4 conical steel shims for the Serpent 960-08. Working in the same way as previously available versions, they keep the wheel true by helping centre them on the axles. They are now smaller in diameter to reflect the new bearing diameter size used on the 2008 spec car.

The New Zealand Nationals for 1:10 235mm took place recently and despite not even owning his own car it was Greg Mawson, using a borrowed Serpent 835, who scored a double National win as he claimed the top spot in both the Can-am and Saloon classes. Greg sent us this account of the race -
The 2008 IC On Road Nationals were held over Easter weekend by the Taranaki Radio Control Car Club. I was the main event organiser, but had recently started to concentrate on off road, so had no cars to run at the event. That could have meant a long weekend stuck in race control instead of out on the track but lucky for me I made a comment about how I liked the look of the 1/10 235mm 2wd cars at the previous Nationals. I was quickly offered a car to drive at the 2008 Nationals, which I accepted with some apprehension.

Started in 2007, a consortium of Western Australia’s major RC racing Clubs have banded together to solidify and promote RC racing in WA. This initiative is aimed at supporting regional clubs, and to promote our sport and hobby of RC, and to re-kindle interest within existing enthusiasts whilst attracting newcomers to the sport.
The event is called the “The West Australian Challenge Cup Series”, comprising of several non-sanctioned race meetings. Each meeting will be held over a two day weekend made up of Day 1 Practice & Qualifying and Day 2 Finals. The clubs involved in this initiative so far include Geraldton, Radio Rally Club and Model Off Road Buggy Club. Each club will host at least one of the events in their own right.
