The first round of the BRCA Nationals for 1/5th bikes took place this weekend at Skipton, the weather was variable but generally cold and dry, another good test for the new experimental GRP bike tyres. After the wet testing at Cotswolds it was nice to finally get some dry track time in, and the abrasive Skipton Surface was a durability test into the bargain.

The new GRP stood up very well, in use on several bikes throughout the weekend. Drivers reported more stability than their current race tyres, and more grip all round, wet or dry than the current GRP tyres, by at least three fold. Yet at the end of the meeting the tyres looked like new with barely a mark on them.

Maxim Claes marked himself out as a young racer to watch when the 15-year-old took his Mega MF powered Serpent 720 ‘08 to victory in the opening round of the T2 Belgian 1:10 200mm National Championship over the weekend.

Racing at the Rumst track, Claes was in top form taking the TQ before going on to win the 30-minute final from his elders Vazza Doato and Leonard Gerard.

The 2nd round of the Portuguese National Championship was totally dominated by XRAY. 45 drivers were at the race in Albufeira, in southern Portugal to enjoy the bright sun shiny weather and race in round 2 of the Portugese National Championship series.

The Final Classification becomes:

2. Eduardo Dulac
3. Ricardo Noguerira
4. Joao B. Inácio - XRAY NT1
5. Bruno Coelho
6. Gonçalo Almeida
7. Luis Simoes - XRAY NT1
