Former Team Serpent Ireland driver Dean Lacey made a very welcomed return to racing over the weekend with the young ace steering his Mega MF powered Serpent 960 to victory in Round 2 of the Irish National Championships despite a 10 month absence from the sport.
Racing at the St. Annes circuit in Dublin, Lacey showed he had lost none of his speed and cruised to victory ahead of the Kyosho pairing of Colin Whelan and Nico Azzariti. The result backs up fellow Serpent racer Clive Connolly’s victory in Round 1. Unfortunately a start line incident put an end to a great work done by Graeme Lougheed who TQ’d his 960 for the 30 minute final.
In the 1:10 200mm class Serpent also enjoyed podium success as Top Qualifier Chris Lawlor driving a 720 secured second ahead of the Mega ZX powered 720 of Colm Gaffney who moves up to second in the standings following his second podium finish of the season.
In the 200mm B, nitro debutant John McCabe claimed silverware first time out when he took his Mega powered 710 to third.
Drivers have just weeks to prepare for Round 3 of the RCCAOI National Championship when Team Serpent Ireland will be looking to build on their opening success.

O’Donnell’s Jared Tebo TQed and won both the Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy classes at the Pro-Line Max Challenge. Tebo walked away from the field in each of the main events. His rides and driving were spot-on and these two victories should give him a boost of confidence for the upcoming ROAR Buggy Nats.

Recently we set another milestone with the successful release of the 808 project. It is Sunday evening and I am still in office doing a last minute inspection for finishing the 808 project… packaging and shipping the first batch of kits to urgently-awaiting customers. Now, after the project has been finished, I can take a quick look back and rest for a minute because starting tomorrow the next part of the lifecycle of this project will start and I will be back in the never-ending circle of working with this new baby… ongoing testing of new development ideas… designing and producing the optional performance parts which customers will want to better tune their cars… monitoring team performance in different conditions around the world… analyzing feedback, reports and comments not only from the team drivers but especially from customers in order to guide me in the directions needed to further develop the 808. Bringing the all-new car and platform to the world, the work does not really ever finish… it is just beginning of new and different work and challenges. This is what I like the best; to be at the tracks with the team and talking to customers…
