Former IFMAR World Champion Mark Pavidis and US teammate Cody King attended the recent running of the Kyosho Masters in Japan along with many other International drivers. The results for the race were just recently posted, showing that Pavidis took first, followed closely by Cody Kind in second. They were the only two drivers to run 60 laps, Kawamoto crossed the line with 59 laps, while Tanaka and Kanai finished with 58 laps. Pavidis runs an MP9 with AKA tires, OS engine, Futaba radio gear, and Sidewinder fuel. King runs an MP9 with AKA tires, Sirio engine, KO Propo radio gear and Byron’s Fuel.

Cody King and Mark Pavidis also were running away with the lead in the DBX/DST class, with King leading the charge. Pavidis fell back due to technical problems, but that was not the case for King. He lead the race right to the finish, taking the top podium position to make it a clean sweep for the US drivers. Congratulations to Pavidis and King for an excellent performance at the Masters.

The A-main and the series championship came right down to the end of the race, where King made the pass for the lead, winning the last round of the series and taking the win for the entire JBRL Series in the class. King runs the Kyosho ST-RR with a Sirio CL7B STI engine, AKA wheels with medium compound City Block tires, Byron’s Race Blend fuel with 30-percent nitro, and 2.4 GHz KO Propo EX10 Helios radio and servos. The new Inferno GT2 at the hands of driver Paul Coleman dominated the field this past weekend at the Paris Memorial Race, which honors the RC Legend and engine tuner extraordinaire, Ron Paris. The IGT class was introduced as a “Sport” class this year at the Paris Memorial to give drivers a class in which they can compete for significantly less cost than the premier and very expensive class of 1/8 on-road. The IGT class was created many years ago by Kyosho with the Landmax series and now features the new Inferno GT2 car. Based on a 1/8 buggy chassis, these cars appeal to enthsiasts around the world who enjoy the low cost, durability, performance and the factory-licensed bodies that provide the scale realism that is only available with the Kyosho Inferno GT series. In fact, every body produced since the Landmax series to present has been a factory licensed replica of a real racing machine from various popular full-scale racing series from around the world.

Coleman, facing challenges from a roster filled with factory drivers from another manufacturer desperate to win the event, ran the perfect race. He TQ’ed the first round of qualifying and in spite of some “factory driving” that held up his progress in the second round, he managed to take second place, only missing another TQ by .001 second. Five minutes into the final, there was a little bit of rain, which meant drivers had to exercise a great deal of restraint until the track dried out. Conditions finally improved and Colman showed why the Inferno GT2 is the class of the field, laying waste to all competition and taking top honors at the event. Congrats to Paul Coleman the new Inferno GT2 for such an awesome performance in winning the 2008 Paris Memorial.
