Next week (22-25 May) drivers from across Europe will travel to Austria for the 2008 EFRA 1:8 Onroad European B Championships which takes place on the Kirchberg track and Team Serpent will be on hand to offer support to the large number of drivers competing with the 960.

Multiple European A Champion and 2007 EC Top Qualifier Michael Salven will be on hand to offer technical support and set-up advice to the Serpent teams. Serpent’s chief designer will be joined in the support role by local ace Daniel Tomaschko who set a new track record at the recent EC-B warm up race.

Serpent will continue its long running tradition of a complimentary goodie bag for all Serpent drivers taking part in the event and RC Car Exklusive, the Serpent distributor for Austria, will be on hand to look after spare parts support for competitors running the 960 chassis.

Serpent has a successful track record at the EC-B winning the title 3 times in the last four years and launching the careers of a number of emerging r/c racing talents like Italian Andrea Cristiani who won the event with his 960 in France in 2006. Belgian driver Steven Cuypers also driving a 960 was the winner a year earlier when the championship was held in Germany. In 2004 Serpent won the crown when Dario Balestri won the event at Fiorano in Italy.

Team Serpent Team Brazil enjoyed success in the second round of the Brazilian National Championships over the weekend when Henrique Winik took his 720 08 to victory at Carrefour São Paulo.

Winik was on the pace throughout the weekend but some engine troubles in Saturday qualifying meant he would have to race through to the Main Final via the Semis.

Securing 5th on the grid for the main 45-minute encounter and with his engine now working perfectly, Winik was able to set a new track record as he drove a great and calculated race. Opting to not change tyres during the final the gamble was to pay off as he took the win by 2 laps from Chung Min Hsu giving Team Serpent Brazi the victory once again.

It was a great day for Team Serpent Brazil and all the drivers are hopeful that this form will make for a great season. New to the team and making her National Championship debut was 10-year-old Fernanda Stavich who did a very impressive job as she managed to make the Semi Final with her Serpent.

The 2008 EFRA 1:10 200mm European B Championship took place in Ampuis, France, last week were local driver Michael Derderien marked himself as one to watch for the future. Driving his Mega MF powered Serpent, the youngster TQ’d the big event making it the second year in a row that the 720 topped the qualifying time sheets at the EFRA race.

Unfortunately Derderien was unable to repeat the success achieved by 2006 EC-B winner Alessio Mazzeo from Italy. Very fast in the final, the Frenchman was given a Stop/Go penalty and his engine cut out but despite this he managed to take his Serpent home in 5th.

Serpent congratulate Derderien on his TQ achievement and are sure that we will see a lot more of this young charger in the future.

Set of 4 machined aluminium wheel axles for use with the 960-08 OS2 front wheel axles.

Suitable for use with the new OS2 front wheel axles on the Serpent 960’08, these 1mm thick spacers allow you to easily adjust the front offset of the car. Machined from aluminium, the spacers are tapered on the face that presses against the wheel bearing, ensuring that they don’t damage the bearing by rubbing against the outer part of the wheel axle bearing. Sold in a set of 4, they are used in combination with the standard 0.2mm thick wheel axle shims.
