The Turf City 1/8 Off-Road Race was held on July 20, 2008 on a sunny & breezy day. The track was damp in the morning, becoming moderately dusty in the afternoon. Heats lasted 7 minutes, with 1-hour long A finals at the end.

The morning was damp, as rain had blessed the track the day before. Qualifying went smoothly with Team XRAY driver Glenn Phuah setting the early fast qualifying time of 9 laps @7.15. Not satisfied with his time, Glenn had guns blazing going into round two, and finished with 9 laps @ 7.08. Some careless mistakes and a drying track in round 3 meant that Glenn would not better his time and instead Kyosho driver Ben Seet did 9 laps @ 7.05 to clinch the TQ spot. Promising new XRAY 808 driver Daniel Lim showed some excellent driving to put him in 4th spot on the starting grid.

Starting order:

1. Ben Seet
2. Glenn Phuah XRAY XB808
3. Joe Hwee
4. Daniel Lim XRAY XB808
5. Ah M
6. James Loke XRAY XB808
7. Ryu Goh
8. Dickson Lim
9. Faizal
10. Sunny Wong

Race report by Mickael Brandt
My first race in Sweden this year took place at the really fast track in Örebro. Since I had to attend a family event on Saturday, I only had time for the practice and 3 of 4 qualification rounds. I felt pretty confident though, since my car was really good last year at this track when it was dry. The practice went well and the car was easy to drive and after the first qualification round I was 3rd. In the second round something went wrong with the engine when the warmup started, and since I only could do one more qualification run I quickly changed the engine to another one. Thanks to the quick-change engine mounting system, I managed to do the engine swap quickly and run a couple of laps and tune the engine for the next qualification round. My final round went fairly well but I did not manage to hold on to my direct qualify final place, instead I ended up starting 2nd in semi-A. In the qualifiers I had used a spool in front and 60000 oil in the rear diff and I felt that I needed more steering into the corners, so I switched to an 80000 diff in the front, and also changed from 2 holes to 1 hole in the rear shocks to get even more steering.

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland hosted the first Novarossi Cup held in Australia. The Club had prepared a perfect American style track with some of the biggest jumps seen in Australia. It had rained alot before the start of qualifyingand this left the surface soft and slippery, unique was that it never chewed up and remained very smooth.

Qualifying was based on rocket round, fastest to count. A big battle emerged between Mark Stringer, Dave Burgess and XRAY`s Ian Haley all on top at various times eventually TQ fell to Dave on Sunday morning. Haley fought back with some minor setup changes for the semi`s had the XT8 on pole for the A main.

The new lighter high-speed ballbearings offer great car performance, acceleration and top speed. Because of their size, the bearings have to be cleaned and serviced more often. To do this, remove all bearing from the car, clean them with cleaner and rag, and regrease them again.

This is especially important with the bearings in the pinion gear assembly as they can carry extreme loads. We recommend using HUDY Bearing Grease after each hour of racing; this will help to significantly extend bearing life.

Round 8 of the Cyprus National 1:10 ITC took place on July 20 at the Daytona RC Circuit in Nicosia. The weather was very hot with a temperature that reached 42°C. Unfortunately, this negatively influenced the number of drivers attending, but most of the top Cyprus RC drivers attended the event.

In Expert class main final, XRAY NT1 driver Stelios Procopiou started from pole position and stormed to his first winning victory on his debut race with Team XRAY (and as we know, the J&S driver recently moved from Mugen to XRAY). Vasilis Christoforou - the second XRAY NT1 racer and J&S driver as
well - was runner up. Charis Theodosiou came in third place, while young driver Thirsos Charalambous encountered a few engine problems at start and finished fourth.
