Team HP Racing, the team of Serpent’s Swedish distributor, enjoyed a successful weekend at 2006 European Championship host track Staffansdorp over the week when its drivers Bengt Andersson and Christoffer Hallborg stormed to a 1-2 finish with their Serpent 960s.

The Swiss 1:8 Nationals got underway over the weekend at Wallisellen where Team Serpent driver Shasa Lackner TQ’d the event with his 960 before going on to secure a podium finish.

Four Serpent’s made the Main Final with Lackner finishing as the leading challenger placing second on the same lap as the winner after 45-minutes of racing. Reto Felix took his 960 to fourth ahead of fellow Serpent racer Kurzbuch Simon while Andy Geissesr finished 10th.

Lackner will compete in 1:8 European B Championships in Austria next month and based on his current form will be one to watch at the event.

Team Serpent Denmark have sent us the following report on their recent Danish EP Touring Car Indoor Championship victory with Nicolai Nielsen who steered the S400 to its first Danish title -

On the 30th March it was time for the final and deciding leg of Danish Indoor Championship 2007/2008. The only Serpent S400 was to be found in the Super Stock class, with Nicolai Nielsen behind the wheel.

The German Indoor EP Touring Car Nationals took place last weekend at the Intermodellbau Messe in Dortmund and it was Serpent S400 driver Rene Klöckner who was crowned Junior Champion.

In the main championships Serpent was represented in both the Stock and Modified A Mains with Martin Schmidt just missing out on a podium to finish fourth overall while Freddy Südhoff took his Modified S400 to seventh overall.

The Romanian EP Touring National Championship took place in Arad last weekend where Team Serpent driver Cristian Faur ruled by Stock and Modified at the controls of his Serpent S400.

In Stock Faur completely dominated the field taking the TQ before going on to take easy wins in the Finals.

Modified was a slightly tougher affair for the Serpent driver as he qualified 2nd but come the finals his S400 was dialled in perfectly and he took victory in the first and second legs of the final to claim the overall victory and complete the perfect National championship campaign.

The Belgian 235mm National Championships got underway recently and it was once again Serpent that came out on top of the class despite some interesting new prototype cars joining the mix and some rather difficult race conditions.

Racing on the small and technical Houthalen circuit, drivers spent Saturday testing on a dry track only to arrive on race day to find a wet one. The rain stopped much to the delight of the drivers and was completely dry for start of the final but it was not to stay that way.

Maxim Claes marked himself out as a young racer to watch when the 15-year-old took his Mega MF powered Serpent 720 ‘08 to victory in the opening round of the T2 Belgian 1:10 200mm National Championship over the weekend.

Racing at the Rumst track, Claes was in top form taking the TQ before going on to win the 30-minute final from his elders Vazza Doato and Leonard Gerard.

Last weekend the Portuguese 1:10 200mm Nationals continued with the second round at the Algarve track where as usual very nice weather welcomed the drivers and their machines. Similar to the 1:8 National event held there a week prior, Saturday would prove difficult for the drivers as a dirty track made it hard to find the perfect setup. Also for this race the organisers decided to use the slower layout of the circuit, a layout never raced before.

German 1:8 Regionals Race 3 at Sinzig

New SDD signing Tobias Hepp was in action over the weekend and was showing why the youngster is a man to watch in 1:8. Racing in the third of the German regional races, Hepp showed great talent and maturity qualifying his Mega powered 960 ‘08 in second position ahead of veteran team-mate Karl Heinz Meister and a host of other leading drivers including former Euro B Champion Steven Cuypers from Belgium and multiple 235mm European Champion Alain Levy of France.

Over the weekend SDD driver Robin D’Hondt got the defence of his 1:8 National title underway at the opening round of the 2008 Belgian Nationals and the young ace couldn’t have made a better start to his campaign. Robin sent us the follow report from the Houthalen race -

The first round of the Belgian Championship was held at the rather small and very technical track of Houthalen (Limburg). The weather forecast was not as a normal racer would want it to be,
lots of rain on Sunday they said so I prepared some rain tires for this weekend and a second radio plate also for the rain.
