During our last weekend we had a 1/10 race on the Modelodromio racing track in Patra. Again a win for Serpent team and Giannis Sotiropoulos but this time with a full Serpent podium as Andreas Makrigiorgos was 2nd and Kostas Sidiropoulos 3rd. This race gave to Giannis the 2008 1/10 title and to Kostas the second place with one more race to come.
It was a good race and serpent looked very strong from Saturday. Rain came on the night and on Sunday we had a wet race. By the 4th qualification round the track was dry and found Kostas Sidiropoulos TQ followed by Giannis Sotiropoulos, Andrea Makrigiorgo 5th and Petroglou in 7th. During the A main Giannis took the lead from the beginning of the race that gave him a 3 lap gap by the end of the race. Kostas was second until the 12 minute that he had a flame out. At this point all serpent drivers had the first 4 places. Unfortunately Petroglou being 3rd had a crash and his race was finished. Kostas finally by the end of the race gained the 3rd place.

Excellent qualifying with 2nd and 3rd place for 720-08
Paolo Morganti and Dj Apolaro were both in great shape with the Mega powered Serpent 720 cars.
A 2nd place for Paolo and a 3rd place for DJ showed the pace was excellent.
Very stabile 720 cars, good handling, no traction rolling and very quick and consistent.
In the final things started of well, but Paolo broke a belt which very rarely happens.
DJ was leading the A-Main for a while, even with a half lap leap and doing well with his tyres staying very well and no reason to change. However a locked one-way bearing in this 2-speed ended his hopes.
Thanks to the club at Frt Meyers to host the Nationals.

Bad weather prevented a last final to be raced for the championship, due to the race being cancelled.
Congratulations to both !

Report from Robin
The 6th and last round of the Belgian championship was also held at the track of Charleroi, the original idea was to have this race at the track of Bierset but sadly enough the track had to close its gates for an airport expansion.
Friday evening we arrived there, rain was falling out of the skies. Think the gods don’t like me or so, 6 Belgian championships this year => 6 times rain on Sunday or Saturday … Great!

Massimo’s prepared S120; ready for action
Many Italian hotshots from 1/8 and 1/10 scale gas-racing, dive into the indoor-halls for some 1/12 scale electric car racing.
Its all about reflexes and concentration. Good practise for the 2009 1/8 worlds and the 1/10 euro’s ???
S120 with bumper ?
As the gas-racers are used to having a front bumper, Massimo mounted this Serpent 710 rear shocktower to double up as a front bumper.
Enjoy racing !

He is only racing two and a half years but 15-year-old Max Claes has taken his first National title winning the 1/10 200mm T2 Belgian Championship at the final round at the Charleroi track over the weekend.
Racing in very poor weather conditions, Max took TQ honours for the championship finale with his Serpent 720. Starting from the No.1 spot on the grid a wrong tyre choice meant the up and coming young talent was unable to challenge for his third win of the season but finishing fifth was enough for him to claim his first ever National first title from Renaud Gysemberghs.
Over the championship Max claimed two victories and four podium placings and the new champion is already looking forward for to new challenges next year.
In true champion style Max thanked his dad Alain and Jan de Pooter from RC Car Colours for their support during his successful campaign.

The fourth round of the Venezuelan 1:10 200mm Nationals took place over the weekend and it was Serpent driver Gianni Giorgio who claimed maximum points. Driving his Max Power engined 720, Giorgio was on top form in qualifying breaking the track record with a time of 17.048 and also set a new record for most laps completed over 5 minutes - a run that would secure him the TQ honours.
Unfortunately bad weather forced the finals to be abandoned and so the result was declared on the heats giving Giorgio and Serpent the win. With this victory Giorgio takes the lead of the championship with two rounds remaining.

The 8th round of the British 1/10th scale 200mm Nationals were held recently at the Cotswold track where experience and youth came head to head for title honours. In the end it was youth that took the upper hand as 14-year-old Serpent Driver Development member Kyle Branson took the win and the championship title from Serpent factory driver Mark Green.
Also a member of the mighty Italian Sirio factory team this year, the 2008 season has been a spectacular one for Branson. One of the original drivers to be selected for Serpent’s SDD program he has really impressed and over the eight rounds of the BRCA National Championship the former European Junior Champion claimed 3 victories and was on the podium six times.
