August 30th marked the 1st Annual Surf City Classic hosted by Southern California’s newest indoor off-road track, OC R/C located in Huntington Beach, CA. The facility is top notch with a full on-site hobby shop, large pit area, and a challenging off-road track. Race director Jeremy Felles did an awesome job running the races and keeping the program on track.
The Surf City Classic brought in many of the top electric drivers from around the area. Team Orion Factory Drivers: Ryan Cavalieri, Frank Root, Josh Numan, and Cody King were all in attendance to show their support.
The one day race format consisted of three 5-minute qualifiers taking the drivers single fastest run. Each class would run a 7-minute A-Main to decide the champion.
In qualifying it was all Cavalieri. Ryan went on to TQ all three rounds of Truck Modified and 4wd Modified.
Ryan picked up right where he left off in qualifying and went on to win both the Truck Modified and 4wd Modified classes.

The 2008 ROAR Electric Modified Off-Road Nationals were held August 15-17 at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. The race program was run by shop owner and internationally known announcer Jimmy Babcock. Hot Rod is best known for its hi-bite blue groove surface and scorching temperatures. This past weekend was no different with a visible 5 foot wide blue groove around the entire track and temperatures in the high 90’s all weekend long.
Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Cavalieri was on hand to defend all three of his Modified National Titles he won last year when he swept the Nats in Albuquerque, NM.
Throughout qualifying Cavalieri proved he was the man to beat by Tq’ing all three of the modified classes. This was also the first race where Ryan chose to run Li-Po batteries in his 2wd buggy and truck. Ryan chose the Team Orion 3600 Race Spec Battery and Team Orion Vortex line of motors to power his way to the top. RC only used 1 battery in each car all weekend long, never having to balance his packs once! This is nothing new with the high quality Kokam cells that Team Orion uses.

Adrien Bertin brings Team Orion yet another victory at the 2008 Kyosho Masters. From 5th on the grid, Adrien went from 5th to 4th on the start and methodically moved through the field taking advantage of his Team Orion CRF .21 powered Kyosho 777 equipped with the new AKA tires. Within 15 minutes of the 45 minute main it was shaping up to be a three horse race between Daniel Reckward, Julien Lattanzio and Adrien Bertin. For 15 more minutes these three swapped the lead and were never more than 8 seconds apart on the 35 second a lap track. With 10 minutes to go it was down to Reckward and Bertin swapping the lead on pit stops and on the track. With two minutes to go Bertin and Reckward were nose to tail around the track. On the final lap, Adrien Bertin’s Orion power allowed him to make a pass for the lead at the end of the straight and he held on through bumpy conditions to take the win. Along with an amazing performance by his Team Orion CRF Engine, Adrien was able to run his tires in the last round of qualifying and for the entire 45 minutes main event on this multi-surface blue-groove track.

7.4V - 1500 LiPo Receiver Pack
10A LiPo - Regulator
Lithium Polymer appears in the receiver packing.
The lithium Polymer specification is born in the receiver packing of ORION. 75g that is farther lighter than the receiver packing of the past is achieved. Now, the receiver battery is being attached to importance by saying that running will change in one battery by the engine car. The LiPo receiver packing of lightness and a large capacity prepared two kinds (LiPo-1500 and LiPO- 1700). The receiver that doesn’t correspond to 7.4V needs optional regulator 10A(ORI13100) for 7.4V specification.
