Race report by Warren Maker
This was to be Ben’s last race with the T2 007 before updating to the T2 008 so we were hoping for a good finish for old times sake. The 007 has been a great race platform for Ben to learn on. Incredibly strong and super reliable as it needed to be while Ben was learning to drive through out his first year.
We had driven at this track a few times and it is notorious for its dusty conditions and low grip so we weren’t surprised to find it damp and a little slippery. So we set the car up very soft all round and even went to the extent of leaving the roll bars off to create a little more roll and hence grip.

At the last round of the regional championships, it was total XRAY domination! Taking TQ and winning in all 3 classes, XRAY really showed the potential in 27T Stock, 19T Super Stock and Modified Touring Car… XRAY cars won everything.
In the Modified class it was a battle between me, fellow XRAY driver Christian Lehm, and Emil Rath. I was the fastest guy in all the qualifiers, Emil was 2nd but had some problems with his car, and Christian was following closely in 3rd place.
In the first two finals it was me in front with Christian and Emil fighting for 2nd place. Christian got the 2nd place in both first and second finals. Unfortunately I made a stupid mistake in the last final — as I was leading again I waited for Emil and Christian to play a little bit. I let Emil pass a couple of times, but in the end I wasn’t close enough, so he got the win in the third final, and thereby securing the 2nd place overall. I was very sorry that I ruined the result for Christian, who really deserved the 2nd place this time – Sorry once again, Christian.
Final result Touring Car Modified:
1. Soeren Boy Holst XRAY T2’008
2. Emil Rath
3. Christian Lehm XRAY T2’007

The German Micro Masters was THE main event for every German 1:18 micro racer in the 2008 winter season. Some call it the unofficial German Championships for 1/18 racing. The race was held in Alten-Buseck, a small town close to Gießen.
MAC Lahntal and MSC Kirchhain organized the event in cooperation with a small local collector and hobby museum, who offered a part of his exhibition space for two separate race tracks in one big room (on- and off-road) and the large pit area with prepared tables for each driver.
The layout for both tracks seemed to be very challenging. The on-road track had a very tricky infield which called for a good setup and calm driving. The off-road track amongst others combined a triple jump with a so called ‘wall’ which separated the good from the best.
